PECKHAM 24 X PHOTO FRINGE

ARTIST OPEN CALL

The Peckham 24 team are delighted to announce a new Artist Open Call in partnership with Brighton-based organisations Photo Fringe, Spectrum Photographic and Fabrica.  The Peckham 24 x Photo Fringe Open Call offers the opportunity for an artist to present one large-scale photographic artwork in Fabrica’s In Between Gallery as part of Photo Fringe 2024.

CALLING FOR IMAGE PROPOSALS ON THE THEME OF COMMON GROUND

The theme for Photo Fringe 2024 is COMMON GROUND.  Finding common ground is a starting point for positive change. Like photography, common ground can bridge divides, challenge stereotypes and create space for collaboration and connection. This year’s Photo Fringe festival seeks to disrupt traditional hierarchies and encourage a mutually beneficial exchange of perspectives, skills and ideas.

ABOUT IN BETWEEN GALLERY

Nestled within Brighton’s historic lanes in a historic Grade II listed venue, Fabrica is a space where everyone can take part in the arts.  The In Between Gallery is a temporary gallery in the Fabrica window dedicated to showing contemporary photography.

The exhibition window faces directly onto Duke Street, one of Brighton’s busiest pedestrianised quarters, located between The Lanes and Churchill Square, two very popular shopping destinations. The main city centre pubs and clubs are also nearby so the street is normally busy into the evening and throughout the night. When submitting your images it's worth knowing the practical factors that will influence the Selection Committee’s decision: work in a square format fits well with the shape of the window; images that are predominantly light or bright: the window has a light filter on it which does not favour images that are predominantly dark or black and white.
